Irene Sonora has been working at her own insurance firm for over a decade and has loved what she’s been doing with her team and self. However, prior to owning her own business in El Paso, she used to actually work with the United Health Care in California back in the day.
She worked in the United Healthcare for a number of years until a situation occurred in the internal agents back in 2007, that pushed her in the decision of going on her own and away from what she had known before. Soon after this, Irene became an independent broker on her own and worked from home. She did this for about four years and saw how well she was able to do this on her own, and she then decided to open up her own Health Insurance business in 2011.
It was a scary decision for her at first as she thought about setting up a mortgage, having employees, and staying afloat would be a bit overwhelming. However, she brought herself back into reality and realized that if she could do it in her own home, she could do it out here in El Paso. In the end, it ended up working in her favor as her company has been open for about a decade with a team she loves and cares about.
